Updated information about the waiting lists for genital surgery at Charing Cross have been published. Please note that this is statistics for the surgical team at Charing Cross, regardless of which GIC the patient has been referred from. Also it is not currently possible to get information about waiting times at Nuffield Hospital or the Andrology Centre.

Current statistics on gender reassignment surgery at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as of the end of December 2015 -

  • There are 293 people on our waiting list
  • 22 people have been approved for their operation and given a date
  • 42 people have been approved for their operation and are awaiting a date
  • 68 people are ‘on hold’ as they are not yet fit for surgery
  • 161 people are waiting for an initial consultation with the consultant
  • three patients left the waiting list without surgery (this includes patients who have been discharged back for not attending their appointments or who no longer wish to proceed with surgery)
  • the average waiting time for patients who received treatment was 74.9 weeks
  • 51 patients were transferred to a private provider

During December 2015 -

  • four people had surgery (two procedures were performed by Phil Thomas and two by Tina Rashid)
  • 12 pre-operative assessments were carried out
  • we received nine new referrals
  • 10 Imperial patients were treated by a private provider

Updated information about the waiting lists for genital surgery at Charing Cross have been published.

  • There are 348 people on our waiting list
  • 19 people have been approved for their operation and given a date
  • 49 people have been approved for their operation and are awaiting a date
  • 56 people are ‘on hold’ as they are not yet fit for surgery
  • 224 people are waiting for an initial consultation with the consultant
  • three patients left the waiting list without surgery (this includes patients who have been discharged back for not attending their appointments or who no longer wish to proceed with surgery)
  • the average waiting time for patients who received treatment was 75.4 weeks
  • no further patients were transferred to the private sector during November as the provider already had a waiting list of patients from October to list for procedures

During November 2015:

  • eight people had surgery (three procedures were performed by Phil Thomas and five by Tina Rashid)
  • three pre-operative assessments were carried out
  • we received 12 new referrals
  • 19 Imperial patients were treated by a private provider

  • 58 people are ‘on hold’ as they are not yet fit for surgery
  • 215 people are waiting for an initial consultation with the consultant
  • 3 patients left the waiting list without surgery (this includes patients who have been discharged back for not attending their appointments or who no longer wish to proceed with surgery)
  • The average waiting time for patients who received treatment was 85 weeks. This includes delays for hair removal/delays due to the patient being unfit for surgery
  • 17 patients were transferred to a private provider

During October 2015:

  • 10 people had surgery (4 procedures were performed by Phil Thomas and 6 by Tina Rashid)
  • 8 pre-operative assessments were carried out
  • We received 12 new referrals
  • 13 Imperial patients were treated by a private provider

September

As of the end of September 2015:

There are 364 people on our waiting list.

  • 19 people have been approved for their operation and given a date
  • 60 people have been approved for their operation and are awaiting a date
  • 48 people are ‘on hold’ as they are not yet fit for surgery
  • 237 people are waiting for an initial consultation with the consultant
  • 4 patients left the waiting list without surgery (this includes patients who have been discharged back for not attending their appointments or who no longer wish to proceed with surgery)
  • The average waiting time is 72.0 weeks. This includes delays for hair removal/delays due to the patient being unfit for surgery.
  • 40 patients were transferred to Parkside

During September 2015:

  • 10 people had surgery (3 procedures were performed by Phil Thomas and 7 by Tina Rashid)
  • 16 pre-operative assessments were carried out
  • We received 27 new referrals
  • 0 Imperial patients were treated by a private provider
